The F. Q. Story Historic District

The Story neighborhood is one of Phoenix's first historic districts. Its 602 homes date from the late 1920s and span a variety of architectural styles, including Spanish Colonial Revival, English Tudor, Craftsman bungalows and transitional ranch. Homes are listed on both the federal and state registers of historic places. The neighborhood is bounded by McDowell Road, Roosevelt Street, Seventh Avenue and Grand Avenue. It is governed by the Story Preservation Association, a non-profit group consisting of Story residents. The association was started in 1984.

Email policy: due to concerns regarding email spam, I have decided to try to "confuse" automatic spam generators by adding the letters nospam to all email addresses listed on our site. In order to email someone, just click on the name as usual, but when the email box comes up, check the email address and delete the nospam from the name. Then you can send the email as usual.

Neighborhood Visual Award
The Steering Committee needs your help in nominating properties for each month's visual award. If there's a home that you especially like, send a message to CJ Carenza or give him a call at 253-2671.

Neighborhood Info:
We now have an updated Contractor Survey form which automatically posts your survey info to the website. If you've had home improvement work done lately, take a moment to fill out our survey about the contractor who did the work. We have also added a "Hall of Shame" of those contractors that did not merit very good reviews. You can see at a glance those which neighbors had bad experiences with.

Got household items to get rid of? Don't put them out in the alley. One resource for getting rid of stuff you no longer want is Freecycle.org. it's a message board similar to our own that enables you to list stuff to give away and people can come pick it up. Another interesting site: Earth 911.

Visit our Furry Friends page to see our new link to Petfinder, a national database of adoptable pets. Also check out the featured cute furry critter available for adoption in Arizona. Problems with feral cats? Visit AZCats.org for help and read about a neighbor's experience with the organization. Help a worthy animal rescue group out for a few weeks by just visiting their website and clicking to register a "hit".
Post info about events, get the answers to neighborhood-related questions or just keep in touch with our neighborhood Message Board.
